How to Change Instagram Password

One disadvantage of living in a digital world is that we tend to lose memory of the many passwords we have, particularly if we do not utilize a certain website or mobile app. If you are an occasional Instagram user, this may have happened to you and you are not sure how to change Instagram password. When you change your Instagram you need to choose one that you will remember and never give it to strangers. Here are tips on changing the password.

Instagram Main Website

  • The first thing you want to do is visit Instagram’s website.
  • Once you do this you will need to click on “Forgot Password”
  • You will then type in the e-mail address you used to sign up for the account
  • You would type in a set of characters for security purposes
  • After you do this you will be allowed to enter the area to reset password

Change Instagram Password Using Facebook

  • On your phone go to the Instagram app and click on “Sign In.”
  • After you do this you will need to click on “Forgot Password.”
  • Once you do this you will need to click on “Reset Password Using Facebook.”
  • You will be linked to the Facebook page where you would type in your Facebook account information.
  • Then you will see the “Reset Password” feature on the Facebook page and reset the new password.

Type of Password to Use When Resetting It

  • Do not use a password that consists of numbers that are arranged in order such as “1234” because this makes it easy for hackers to get in your account. Instead consider unrelated numbers
  • Avoid common nouns and proper nouns that are familiar to everyone. At the same time, use a word that you will remember
  • Do not use years such as “2012”, “1969” or “1970” because these are years when significant events occurred and some hackers may use a certain year to hack the account.

Where to Place Password After Resetting It

  • Never hide your Instagram password in your wallet, in between books on your bookshelf, in the kitchen pantry or in a secret place in the guest room. You want to place it inside of a locked safe or a mini suitcase.
  • If you are in an abusive relationship, do not store it anywhere in the house, especially if you have photos of the physical abuse or damage to property.

We all lose passwords from time to time. It is important that we know how to reset the password and place it in a safe place. Some websites offer services that give you the chance to organize your passwords in one database and your information will be secure. However, the best idea is to place the new password in a secure location.
